The Story of "Pekeapug"...
All my life I have been around dogs. My Dad and Mom (Jerry and Joan Minks) had a Golden lab when I was born. Then Mom and Dad started to rescue toy or miniature poodles from the dog pound. Growing up we always had dogs of one kind. We lived in Germany for three years and this is where my dad came across a bullmastiff. He was hooked.
Upon returning to Canada Dad started to research Bullmastiff's and he learned about dog showing. They bought their first bully and started to show. I went with them to dog shows to see what it was that they were getting involved with. I was hooked also. So I went to find a breed of my own. Kuvas was my first show breed. Although I did not know anything about the breed or showing, I tried.

After a couple of years I realized that Kuvas were not for me. Awhile later mom and dad had a littler of bullmastiffs, I fell in love with Thunderlove Artemis. I bottle fed this bundle of joy from a litter of nine until she could be on her own. Missy came to live with me, we had so much fun in the ring, but I was thinking that they were a little too big for me. Missy got her Canadian Championship and was off to be my house dog couch potato. Missy died in 2006 and is missed by all of us.
In early 2000's I babysat a friend of mine pugs while she was at a show. One of her pugs was due to whelp and she did not want to leave her alone at home... well I sat on the couch with these what looked like little Bullmastiff's and proceeded to fall in love. These guys were content to sit on the couch with me, follow me upstairs, in the bathroom any where I went. When they slept they snored, they made funny noises, but they were so ugly they were cute. So much for that, I was hooked on a pug. What a breed!!

So...... I bought Timepieces X Files Main Man, Mulder was a fawn, but was he fun. He got his Canadian Championship while I was in Inuvik, NWT on business. My dad never let me forget he got those last two points. The picture today hangs on my bedroom wall. Mulder continued to show and had fun at it. A little while later I received a call from an acquaintance that worked at the local SPCA. There was a tiny black pug there, and she wanted me to take a look at him, I ran right over there and sure enough there was this little tiny 10 week old black baby boy in a large kennel..... Scully is now 11 and still enjoying life at our house.
While showing our pugs, my daughter CJ decided she wanted something a little
more to show, she wanted to groom something, so we came across Lionheart No
Regrets. CH. Lionheart
Jessica (our first champion in the breed) followed shortly after as what fun is it just having one? Pekeapug
Kennels was formed in 2005 when we
expected our first pug litter. Ever since then we have enjoyed being raised by
our Pugs and Pekingese.
